Marjorie K. Eastman on the Passing of Senator Bob Dole

Cary, NC – Marjorie K. Eastman, U.S. Senate candidate and combat veteran, issued the following statement on the passing of U.S. Senator Bob Dole.

“Senator Bob Dole was a true inspiration who fought for our country in World War II and honorably served his next tour of duty at home in the U.S. Congress. His remarkable life is a testament to what a veteran brings to public service. We need more leaders like Senator Dole who forged bipartisan alliances in multiple instances for the sake of doing what’s best for our country. Like Senator Dole, I am an Army veteran who served in combat and always admired the leadership he embodied in WWII and the strength he showed throughout his recovery when he was severely wounded as a Lieutenant. My generation stands on the shoulders of service members like him. Today, my heart goes out to his loving wife and groundbreaking leader in her own right, Senator Elizabeth Dole. I, along with my husband Charles and our son Henk, will keep the entire Dole family in our prayers.”
